The Rise of Reason

My POV

Palestine has always been a diverse and dynamic society, shaped by its unique position at the crossroads of Africa, Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, and Europe—a place where traditions, ideas, origins, religions, and perspectives have converged and evolved for centuries. To reduce that richness into a narrow discourse that demands conformity and blind loyalty is to betray the essence of who we are. Progress has never come from unquestioning agreement or the comfort of “just getting along.” It emerges when we embrace complexity and grapple with differing perspectives. I do not expect to agree with every perspective offered by efforts like Realign for Palestine, nor do I expect them to agree with me. That is not the point. The point is to engage meaningfully, to challenge and be challenged, and to sharpen our collective vision in the process.

Holding space for multiple truths is essential because it reflects the reality of who we are. The tapestry of Palestinian narratives cannot be reduced to a singular thread of story or perspective; it is a vibrant, resilient mix of experiences, traditions, and ideas. We can reject violence while still understanding its sources in the oppression and the resultant desperation that created it. We can condemn occupation while engaging in pragmatic strategies that want to end it.

That complexity is not a weakness—it is our greatest strength and the foundation for a future where our aspirations for peace, freedom, and prosperity are realized.

Achieving our shared goal—a free, sovereign, secure, and flourishing Palestinian state that commands the respect and support of the world—demands that we honor our differences and celebrate the richness of who we are.
